Six Common Household Appliances

Appliances are not only meant to be displayed; instead, these are meant to be used. Most of these appliances have been invented to help with our daily chores. In other words, these appliances make our lives more convenient and our chores easier.

These appliances are constantly upgraded almost every year which means that new specifications and features are being added. In addition to that is the fact that some of these appliances can be very pricey. So here are some of these appliances that we can't seem to live without.

1. Television. Ever since the TV was first invented, mankind has become so attached to it. It would be pretty hard to live in a home without television.

During the early days of television the pictures shown were in black and white, no colors yet but then eventually another inventor invented the first colored TV and since then, color has never left the screens of the television.

However, the evolution of the TV didn't stop there. Now we have all types of TV like the plasma TV and the LCD TV. The images shown on these types are clearer and crispier than those shown on regular TV tubes but of course, with that improvement there is a price to pay. The plasma and LCD TV tend to be pricier than the regular television set.

Television sets are found in various areas in the house like the living room, dining room, kitchen and well of course, the bedroom. For some people, watching TV is their form of relaxation and unwinding.

2. Stereo/Component/Radio. It has been said that music is the language of the soul which is probably the reason why most of us love listening to music. Before iPods and mp3s, one can only listen to music if he or she has a stereo, component or radio. These appliances are not obsolete but have only gone through a makeover.

Radios today may not look like the radios of yesterday but it still has the same function and that is to play music. We may see individuals listening from their iPods and mp3s but these gadgets won't be born if radios weren't invented.

3. Dishwasher. Before the invention of this particular kitchen appliance, one has to clean dishes the traditional way and that is with a soap, sponge and water. Seeking to make life more convenient, some intuitive individuals pondered on how to make dishwashing easier and ended up inventing the dishwasher.

This appliance is usually found in the kitchen alongside the bottom kitchen cabinets. Homeowners find this very useful because they don't have to spend a lot of time cleaning the dishes. All they have to do is stuff the dishes inside the dishwasher, pour some liquid soap and leave the machine to do the rest.

Toasted bread is also great for those who are watching their weight and for people that are in a hurry but don't want to drink coffee only for breakfast.
