Three Reasons Why Your Kids Shouldn't Be Unsupervised Around Microwave Ovens

What's the first rule in any factory or in anything that one does? Safety first. No matter where you are, be it on a roller coaster or in the kitchen, your safety should always be your number one priority.

Microwave ovens aren't exactly the safest and foolproof safe appliances that can be found out in the market today. Even if microwave ovens pose a certain amount of danger under the hands of an operator that doesn't know how to use it, it's use and the benefits it delivers day in and day out greatly outweighs the risk of injury or damage to your home. So why shouldn't your kids be left unsupervised around a microwave oven?

1. If they're too young to know how to operate it, don't let them be alone around it.

The danger that microwave ovens pose around your home is greatly magnified when inexperienced operators like little children or first time users use these kinds of appliances. Naturally, being innocent and immature might not work to their advantage when operating a microwave oven. When the wrong things are placed in a microwave oven, it might be dangerous since it could have a violent reaction towards the microwave heating. For one thing, it could spark or blow up all over your microwave oven. Given that explosions are out of the equation, the only thing left here would be a really tedious and tiring thing to clean up after.

2. After you heat up a plate or any type of food or beverage, the containers they're in are a tad bit too hot to touch.

For children who are unaware of this, grabbing a hot plate with bare hands might be a very, very bad idea. A hot plate on bare skin would spell disaster to both. Your child might end up with some minor burns on his or her fingers, and the plate he or she was holding will very much likely fall on the floor. And you don't want to clean up after that right? For the parent or guardian closest to this, this means that you need to treat your child's burn, and clean up broken shards of plates and a mess full of food on the floor or wherever that container may have fallen.

3. Let's face it, it's just good parenthood to make sure your children aren't putting themselves in harm's way.

Things like these just have to be like second nature to parents and guardians alike. Being on the safe side is always a good idea. You don't need to wait for something to happen to your kids for you to try and do something or to attempt to prevent something bad from happening when it's already too late. Don't forget that regrets always come late. And the bigger the regret, the bigger the problem that came before it as well. So be on the safe side, always be mindful of what your children do in the kitchen and around your home.
